Our District

Brandywine Community Schools is a suburban district located in Southwest Michigan, serving over 1,300 students. Our mission is to empower critical thinkers, collaborators, and leaders through high expectations in an inclusive environment. We represent the 3 R’s – Right Size, Right Opportunities, and Right Choice. Our academics, arts, and athletics engage, educate and empower tomorrow’s global citizens.

Brandywine Community Schools consists of Merritt Elementary (K-2), Brandywine Elementary (3-6), Brandywine Middle/ Senior High School (7-12), and Brandywine Innovation Academy (Alternative & Adult Education). In 2003 and 2007, all buildings in the district were renovated and/or had new construction. Brandywine distinguishes itself by having strong home and community partnerships.

Our Community

Brandywine Community Schools is located in Niles, Michigan, a city in Southwest Michigan minutes from the Indiana border, under 30 miles away from the beaches of Lake Michigan and less than 100 miles to the east of Chicago.

Niles and the surrounding area offers a variety of cultural and physical opportunities for families, including Fernwood Botanical Garden and Nature Preserve, Warren Dunes, the St. Joseph River, and the Indiana-Michigan River Valley Trail, which is a system of interconnected multi-use trails connecting the cities of Mishawaka, Indiana, South Bend, Indiana, and Niles. The Southwest Michigan Region is known for its craft breweries, famed wine country, and many local farms that provide a bountiful harvest in the summer and fall.

Brandywine is not a town; the community’s focal point is the school district, and you’ll often hear people making reference to our Bobcat family. Our close-knit community of staff, community members, and parents provides an educational environment that is nurturing for all students built on commitment, pride, and family.
