Fifth Grade Camp

Fifth grade outdoor education (5th grade camp) has been a tradition in grade 5 at Brandywine Elementary for over 50 years.

The 5th grade staff work for weeks throughout the year to prepare for the two night, three day adventure at Camp Friedenswald on Shavehead Lake.

Students participate in archery, canoeing, fishing, and other outdoor activities that build community and team spirit.

In the last couple of years, seniors at the high school have incorporated a 5th grade camp experience into their project graduation evening.  Seniors travel to Camp Friedenswald and relive some of the actvities that they participated in when they were in camp as 5th graders.

Although the schedules, stations and staff have changed throughout the years, the anticipation of 5th grade camp continues to be a highlight of every 5th grader at Brandywine.
